The 12 Percent project
According to the 2009 American Community Survey, there were 38,093,725 Black and African Americans in the United States, representing 12.4% of the population. This visual design exercise investigates the idea of the “minority”, and how isolation manifests its self through material expression. The 12 percent set examines contemporary furniture as an vehicle to convey the plight of the 12 percent .
